Adultery goes mainstream: Online dating service goes too far

Published by kristineb at 1:34 am under Uncategorized Edit This

“Life is short, have an affair.”

The phrase woke me up from my blogging daze and immediately my television became a messenger of evil.

“Life is short, have an affair” is the tag line for a new dating service, Ashley Madison.com.

Logging onto the Web site, I find even more urges for adultery from the Canadian company, in the form of their background image, a couple obviously rendezvousing in a hotel room.

I take my bridesmaid duties seriously. When the role first emerged bridesmaids protected the sanctity of the bride. While I don’t quite adhere to that archaic tradition, if any of my brides had hinted at cheating, I wouldn’t have walked down the aisle.

Unfortunately, the companies evil marketing practices seem to be working. Several reputable news services have covered the story, and since even negative advertising brings in revenue, the dating service will be a source of nightly outrage for awhile .

Others like me were repulsed. A group of protestors gathered in southern California to raise outrage over the company’s billboards. The late night television ad irked me, but seeing the slime advertised in my neighborhood would set me over the edge.

The obstacles that face most couples these days are staggering. Websites such as this one only add to the burden of the monogamous who fear their partner will stray. Dealing in adultery is a dangerous business. Karma keeps my inner entrepreneur in check!

Dealing out adultery is a dangerous business. I’m far too firm a believer in karma to let my inner entrepreneur get out of check like that!

Doesn’t anyone worry about being a good example for the youth of America anymore?

That speaks volumes of how desperate they are to get candidates to their site. I am also concerned on how the younger generation reacts to slogans like this!

Linda, I know what you mean about them being desperate. In a way I felt bad posting to ad to their marketing tactics. Obviously, they aren’t afraid of bad PR. That’s also why I didn’t directly link to their site.

What is really sad is they make it seem so ruddy acceptable to have affairrs like eating a piece of cake that it has turned marriage and commitment into a joke.

I have seen them profiled on several talk shows in the past. I think it is a horrible business! Seems like nothing is sacred anymore!

That is such a shame, the sanctity of marriage just does not get much respect anymore. Carrie

Wow, that’s amazing. And really creepy and depressing.

This billboards are really above and beyond. If it was just online, it wouldn’t bug me so much, because there is just SO much yuck on the internet.
